Seeing as Count's thread is now for talking about Kaelik, I feel he is not the poster we want, he's the poster we deserveneed.
I value his insight and criticisms when I'm making stuff. Because if it's generally good (Time Mage) he'll just say that and give some advice ("needs more Swift/Immediate Action stuff"), and if it's a fuckomination (many of the things) he'll say that. And generally say why.
It doesn't mean I need to like him though. But value outweighs "being an asshole".

I think you wildly misunderstood what I was saying there, Kaelik. Which is fair, because I just made a word up out of your name and used it like people would know what I meant. The 'and' is representing two separate thoughts, not an elaboration on the first. Kaelik loves to argue AND Kaelik is going to kaelik (kaelik, verb; to be unnecessarily obnoxious and assholeish - not kaelik, verb; do things Kaelik would do, e.g. argue on the internet). Nobody has problems with you because you enjoy arguing here. After all, how long did TGD indulge in stupid arguments with tzor? Some of us had him on ignore, but overall we were arguing with him right up until he left. I think that stands as case and point that a lot of the people here just like to argue.DSM wrote:And he also kaelik'd the fuck out, because Kaelik loves to argue and Kaelik gonna kaelik.
People have problems with you because you skip the foreplay and go straight to (being) the asshole, and most of us just don't get warmed up fast enough to find that enjoyable. You've usually got good ideas, so if you'd just slow it down and let the heat build up naturally it'd be a better time for everyone.
Maybe I should have went the premature ejaculation route? Something to do with blowing your hate load as soon as someone talks to you? ... why do I try to turn everything into an awkward sex metaphor? Anyway, the gist of what I'm saying is conversations with you get frustrating half a dozen posts before they need to, because you skip straight to being an asshole. Sure, people disagree, and after awhile disagreement can get heated, and as a whole TGD just kind of accepts that because we're fairly good about keeping heated discussion valuable, and valuable discussion is just as valuable whether it's heated or not. That isn't an invitation to take valuable discussions and crank the thermostat up for no reason, which is what you do and that is why people have the hardest fucking time putting up with you no matter what you're saying and how valuable it may or may not be.

Kaelik's on ignore for the same reason that there's are no call for drill sargents in civilian life. Even if the dude's right and trying to help a body be better, nobody wants to put up with constant screaming and unprovoked insults.
"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."
Funny enough, I have used kaelik as a verb myself. It slipped out when I was talking to a buddy about someone at work freaking the fuck out over nothing.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Since this thread is off-topic as it is, some of my friends have looked at this board, and when I said on Facebook that someone "was dumb and should feel dumb" I was told to stop being Kaelik and then told I didn't know how to read.
I honestly don't see anything wrong with being mean, because (generally) the tone of someone's post in an argument on here, gitp, facebook, wherever, is "you are dumb and I am right". Kaelik skips the "foreplay" in that and just says it, and it's actually refreshing.

You have a strange definition of refreshing. I'm pretty sure most people don't get into arguments looking for abuse. You Lost Me wrote:"you are dumb and I am right". Kaelik skips the "foreplay" in that and just says it, and it's actually refreshing.

CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT PLEASE. I'll say it again, in better words:DSMatticus wrote:You have a strange definition of refreshing. Lots of people use backhanded compliments or insults that just border on 'offensive' and 'annoying', and it grates a whole lot more on my nerves than if someone outright says someone else is stupid.
And heck, at least when Kaelik says someone is dumb, you know he doesn't actually mean anything by it because he throws that term around like a Costco employee giving samples. On the other hand, when you or DragonChild or Frank or PoliteNewb or Tussock or that guy I have on ignore does one of those "wow did you even READ my post?" tirades, it seems far more obvious that they're trying to wipe their e-peen all over the computer screen.
I mean, if you don't like it, that's cool. He's called the Archdemon of Rage for a reason. I just get much less offended when Kaelik calls me dumb relative to anyone else on this forum.

Well, Count/Ted has not said a thing since he had his say in the beginning, so I doubt he's even reading this anymore.Koumei wrote:Seeing as Count's thread is now for talking about Kaelik,

Honestly, I find Kaelik to be one of the most valuable posters on this forum. I don't always agree with him, but he is willing to tell you exactly what he thinks. Which is a very valuable trait.

I'm Kaelik, and I support all of this page.
As for DSM, yes, I was imprecise. Obviously to some extent some people are upset with how I argue, not just that I argue, but yes, I still think it is a silly distinction to value a lead up to arguing. If I don't disagree, I'm not going argue, and if I do, well, it seems pretty clear that if people actually found arguing unpleasant they wouldn't be here, so I'm not sure how arguments become unpleasant earlier with me.
I mean, did anyone bother leading up to an argument with Tzor? Of course not, because he is wrong, so the argument is inevitable. So the only difference I see is that I am willing to accept the inevitability of the argument first.

I don't understand why people would find Kaelik's honesty refreshing, because everyone on this forum says exactly what they think all the time. Kaelik just also contributes way more noise than signal to a conversation.
And is apparently exactly as stupid as a terrible fanfiction writer complaining that his detractors are just jealous.

I have never seen you contribute signal to anything ever, so I don't know why you are talking.Chamomile wrote:Kaelik just also contributes way more noise than signal to a conversation.

Man, what? It's 2013, and rare it's the day we don't read about a real-life rule or another intruding on the Internet. The way Kaelik writes is plainly nostalgic to me. On USENET, this kind of assholery used to be the norm.
Kaelik is a threatened creature. I'm pretty sure that in a few years fbmf can apply for a National Heritage (or whatever you guys on USA have) grant and turn TGD into a ecological reservation.
